Client billing terms, explained plainly

Agreed fee
The total amount a client has agreed to pay for a piece of work — the figure every payment and balance is measured against.

Client billing
The process of agreeing a fee with a client, requesting payment for it, recording what arrives and following up on what does not.

Client ledger
The complete record for one client: the agreed fee, every payment received, and the resulting balance.

Due amount
The amount a client currently owes — in most small-business billing, the same figure as the outstanding balance.

Invoice
An invoice is a document that asks a customer to pay for products or services. A tax invoice in Umikflow lists line items, quantities, prices, taxes you configure, and a total, with an invoice number.

Outstanding balance
The part of an agreed fee that a client has not yet paid: the agreed fee minus everything recorded as received.

Partial payment
A payment that covers some but not all of an agreed fee, leaving a balance outstanding.

Payment history
The dated record of every payment received from a client, in order, showing how a balance reached its current state.
